This pair of images shows an artists impression of the prototype Kvaerner Fjellstrand Foilcat of approx. 40m length on the right and a subsequent somewhat shorter production version of the Foilcat, the Barca. While I understand the prototype was heavier than intended and didn't perform to expectations, lessons from that prototype lead to the more compact production version, of which a few were built and now operate between Hong Kong and Macau. These craft are based on a catamaran hullform but with inverted T foils fitted at the bow and a full span foil at the stern. They are waterjet propelled with water drawn in to a duct forward of the stern foil and drawn up the hollow aft foil struts before being pumped by a waterjet impeller on either side and expelled in a stream above the waterline."
